Last weekend saw the U13s play their final match of the season at home, a friendly against Tring. A&C's forwards started with some robust tackling, fierce competition at the breakdown and strong carrying of the ball. This led to quick ball, and the ability of the backs to move the ball into wide channels, coming onto the ball from deep and exploiting space. A&C quickly raced out to a 4 try lead in the first quarter. Tring pulled a quick try back in the second quarter, and restricted A&C to no further scores.
A&C started the third quarter of the game with some excellent link play between forwards and backs resulting in more tries, whilst robust defending limited Tring to no further scores.
Some last-ditch tackles into touch and strong defence on the line held Tring at bay and resulted in a turnover which was roundly cheered by both players and parents. A&C utilised their subs well, bringing on reinforcements as the game wore on, ensuring continued strong defence and creative attack which resulted in a comfortable win overall.
The U13s can look back at the season with pride and, while not all of the results went their way, the performances have been good and the group has gone from strength to strength through the season.
Bring on the tour to the Isle Of Wight next weekend and bring on next season!
