Beaconsfield Festival Round Up
Many thanks to Mark Holmes and his team at Beaconsfield RFC for a splendid festival yesterday, which was enjoyed by players, parents and coaches alike. This was a mixed ability festival and it was good to see that most teams had respected the ethos of the festival. As we expected, our two mixed ability teams were extremely competitive. Team 1 (no priority inferred) came away with strong wins against Huel Tring, Windsor and Chinnor, all strong clubs at any level. The last match was a very physical duel against Drifters A team, whose superior rucking narrowly won the day. We have been asked for a friendly by Drifters as they recognise our strength in depth and it will be interesting to see how we fare when we field our A team against them.
Team 2 had a similarly strong set of results, beating Aylesbury, Maidenhead and Huel Tring; always nice to do the “double” over our old friends and rivals from Cow Lane (unless that has been renamed Huel Cow Lane as well?) Team 2’s sternest test came against a spirited home side in a hard fought match which ended in a deserved 1-1 draw. Well done to all of the children who worked hard to play our brand of fast, physical and wide rugby throughout!
Here's a great photo of the entire squad, basking in the glory of their phenomenal performances. Note the tent team beavering away in the background!
Our thanks also to the magnificent parents, be they tent teamers or first aiders, who helped out yesterday. A fantastic effort all round! Anyone wishing to share in the glory of these heroic volunteers can do so by putting your name forward for the next festival.
